How to build iWeb themes – the eBook – Win a copy

It’s been almost a month since I last wrote regular posts here on All About iWeb (sorry!) and thanks for the hundreds of e-mails I have received asking when I would write again; well, here I am. I haven’t been sciving off though, instead I have been working away on my first e-book and today I am proud to announce its arrival.

How to Design and Build Your Own iWeb Themes (for iWeb 08 and iWeb 09) is available to download as of now (with 25% off the price), and it comes in 2 flavors; Basic and Pro.

It’s one of the most popular questions I am asked, either by e-mail or twitter, ‘how can I build my own iWeb theme?’ I started writing a tutorial post for All About iWeb and it just got to long. I feel that it is too deep a subject to brush over in a page or 2, so I took some time out from AAi and have written this eBook.

What’s inside the book?

In a nutshell, everything I can think of that you need to know to get you on the road to making your own iWeb themes.

  • How an iWeb theme is structured.
  • Tools you will need to build your iWeb theme.
  • Creating your first theme.
  • Editing text and fonts.
  • Editing colors within an iWeb theme.
  • Editing/Replacing the images.
  • Editing the navigation bar.
  • Editing other elements within iWeb theme pages.
  • Creating iWeb theme thumbnail images.
  • Changing one iWeb theme page into another.

What’s the difference between the two versions?

The Pro version comes with loads of useful code snippets for you to look for and to help you edit your theme and a color code convertor widget. The Basic version is just the e-book.

Where can you get the e-book?

There are two options for getting your hands on a copy. The first is easy. As I have taken so long to write this eBook and (once again, I’m sorry) neglected All About iWeb I am going to giveaway 1 Pro version and 2 Basic versions to 3 randomly picked comments from this post. All you have to do is leave a comment before 12pm (european time) on Friday 23 July and I will pick the winners at random shortly afterwards.

The other option is easy too, but means parting witha bit of cash. You can buy your copy to download now by clicking on one of the links below. As an introductory offer, and because I am off on holiday on Monday, I’m giving 25% off the normal asking price until I get back on 22 Jul 10; that’s nearly 3 weeks!!

  1. I just bought your Pro book and quickly read the first 20 pages or so. It’s easy to read and I can follow it and understand everything so far! Yeah! I’m very much a beginner and we just got a mac two months ago, but I’ve been wanting to make my own website for a long time. I’ve made a couple years ago, from scratch, wrote the html myself. So I know the basics, and I just like a simple site, but my problem was how to integrate a blog as my homepage and be able to add posts with my new design. The static pages are easy to redesign, but not the blog/podcast pages. So I haven’t gotten to the blog part of your book yet, but look forward to it. I’m glad I found you as a resource! Thanks again for your book and it will be WELL worth the $15 if it helps me do what I want!

  2. I have been trying to make the templates myself. I just Googled and found your book.
    Would love to have it!!
