How to build iWeb themes – the eBook – Win a copy

It’s been almost a month since I last wrote regular posts here on All About iWeb (sorry!) and thanks for the hundreds of e-mails I have received asking when I would write again; well, here I am. I haven’t been sciving off though, instead I have been working away on my first e-book and today I am proud to announce its arrival.

How to Design and Build Your Own iWeb Themes (for iWeb 08 and iWeb 09) is available to download as of now (with 25% off the price), and it comes in 2 flavors; Basic and Pro.

It’s one of the most popular questions I am asked, either by e-mail or twitter, ‘how can I build my own iWeb theme?’ I started writing a tutorial post for All About iWeb and it just got to long. I feel that it is too deep a subject to brush over in a page or 2, so I took some time out from AAi and have written this eBook.

What’s inside the book?

In a nutshell, everything I can think of that you need to know to get you on the road to making your own iWeb themes.

  • How an iWeb theme is structured.
  • Tools you will need to build your iWeb theme.
  • Creating your first theme.
  • Editing text and fonts.
  • Editing colors within an iWeb theme.
  • Editing/Replacing the images.
  • Editing the navigation bar.
  • Editing other elements within iWeb theme pages.
  • Creating iWeb theme thumbnail images.
  • Changing one iWeb theme page into another.

What’s the difference between the two versions?

The Pro version comes with loads of useful code snippets for you to look for and to help you edit your theme and a color code convertor widget. The Basic version is just the e-book.

Where can you get the e-book?

There are two options for getting your hands on a copy. The first is easy. As I have taken so long to write this eBook and (once again, I’m sorry) neglected All About iWeb I am going to giveaway 1 Pro version and 2 Basic versions to 3 randomly picked comments from this post. All you have to do is leave a comment before 12pm (european time) on Friday 23 July and I will pick the winners at random shortly afterwards.

The other option is easy too, but means parting witha bit of cash. You can buy your copy to download now by clicking on one of the links below. As an introductory offer, and because I am off on holiday on Monday, I’m giving 25% off the normal asking price until I get back on 22 Jul 10; that’s nearly 3 weeks!!

  36. This site is so helpful, I can’t actually imagine the value of an entire book… fingers crossed.

  37. I’m a designer who has been out of the business for quite a while. I just got back into it to design our company website and was stressed out about the learning curve until I found iweb and your websites 🙂 I am still fine tuning it, but it is turning out great. Thanks for your helpful tricks.

  38. My wife and I are expecting our first in Aug. We plan on building a website for family and friends to see our boy when he comes and as he grows. I am a web developer full time. So when I find time (between diaper changes and sleep) I want the simplest solution to updating our site for the family – not from scratch. iWeb is a simple solution, but the themes lack the kind of creativity that my wife and I would like to put into a theme. We are hoping to win and learn from this book and develop a theme just before our baby boy is born.

  39. Terrific! I want to win this one!

  40. I’m just about to get started on building a website in iWeb. I came across you site and will be coming back again and again I’m sure.
    Keep up the great work.
    Emma
p.s. Hope you had a great holiday

  41. Hi, Great news about the book, hope it sells well, and I also hope it doesn’t stop you writing useful tips and tricks on your blog, which is one of the reasons why I have decided to change from dreamweaver to iweb for my websites.

Also this site is very nice!

  46. WOW . Awesome! A great job since you launch your website!

  47. Your site has helped me so much making my website!

    Cheers!

  48. Can’t wait to see who wins. Hope you had a great time.

  49. I discovered iWeb last week. I am over the moon about the program… until I discovered the difficulties in creating a custom template. A book about it should really help.

    Cheers!

  50. I would love to leave more about iWeb. Hope this comment isn’t too late!!!!!!!
