  1. Your video tag is broken

    1. never mind it’s fixed now.

  2. Wow Jeff, that was quick! It was only broken for maybe 30 seconds at the most. Good eye. Thanks for looking out.

    1. Not a problem. It’s that dammed twitter app. Popped up that you had a new post so, I checked it out.

  3. Tim,
My current iWeb site is a placeholder really and hosted on MobileMe for convenience. I planned to create a proper site for my business using iWeb. The announcement from Apple (and other work) mean I haven’t done much so far. I haven’t decided whether to finish what I started in iWeb or begin from scratch with a different package (possibly Sandvox). If I sign up to Rage could I, at a later date, use Rage to host the new site whether it is created using iWeb or something else?

    1. You’ll be able to use RAGE to host any website, not just an iWeb website. So yes, you can sign up and then change to a different website builder at a later date. I say just continue with iWeb for a while, no reason to panic right now and make a change.

  4. Hi

I’ve been trying to get my head around what web host to choose; no sooner do I get recommendations I find scathing reviews! It’s a total nightmare! Being UK based I’d feel more comfortable with UK support, worried some good reviews are just sly marketing campaigns, worried about making the wrong choice. Worried my design needs to be transferred to something like Dreamweaver and the massive learning curve, so much so have looked into hiring developer but costs are scary and I’m a control freak!

Do you have any ideas how to choose a web host and be confident they will support my mac iWeb site and can be later changed to DW format?

I need to redesign to improve as created it when I was learning all things Mac as well as iWeb so loads of things would do differently.

    Please HELP!

    1. You really don’t need to get a host that is UK based. It’s not going to make a difference.

You do not need to use Dreamweaver to build your site. You can continue using iWeb. That will be the cheaper option and allow you to maintain full control.

RAGE is going to be the only reputable web host you will find that will be able to provide the best iWeb related support for you. I suggest going to them and asking them whatever questions you may have.

  5. I’ve had a hard time choosing a host as well since money is tight right now. I found a free one that didn’t seem too bad but when I went to upload my site. I kept getting error messages related to my images. I re-inserted three of my images, but the filename of the fourth doesn’t match anything in my collection so I can’t determine which image is creating the problem. So I’m stuck for now.
I’m copying my site piece by piece into a Weebly template for now, just to get something up and I’ll give iWeb another try when I have more time to fuss with it.
The changeover has not been fun.
10 years ago, I used to get ad-free, no-frills hosting from Freeservers for $2/month and my own domain name was $10/year. Anyone know of a company still offering those kinds of prices?
