iWeb SEKeyword tool from Rage

sekeywordA little while ago I reviewed the iWeb SEO Tool from Rage Software and found that, as a free product it was an excellent way of adding all sorts of things to your iWeb site that would help with the overall search engine optimization.

Another free app that Rage offers is their SEKeyword tool which promises to help you ‘Discover Your Website’s Most Profitable Keywords’. Let’s see how it gets on in the most recent of my reviews of iWeb add-ons.

Downloading and installing the SEKeyword tool for iWeb was, as all Mac applications seem to be, a piece of cake. Once I had copied the application into my Applications folder I was ready.

One first glance the SEKeyword tool is an unimposing little application. You start by adding your site to the list on the left-hand side by clicking the add (+) sign in the bottom left.

Then by selecting the ‘Research’ icon a new window pops up. Select the ‘Suggest Keywords’ icon and SEKeyword tool will search your site for what it thinks are the keywords.

After a few seconds it will comeback with keywords form your content and (if you have them) from your meta-tags.

You can go through these keywords one by one and if it can the application will suggest related keywords that you ought to think about using on your site.

When you have finished reviewing you can then go back through the list and tick the box next to each word on either the left or right-hand side. then close that window. You will now see a number appear next to your sites name in the first window and a list of your chosen keywords on the right-hand side.

You can now save these to a text file, copy them to your clipboard or judge how good they are with SERank (although you have to download the demo for that or pay for the full version).

You now have a list of popular keywords, relating to your iWeb site saved for a rainy day. All you have to do now is remember to keep adding them cleverly into your iWeb site’s content.

So what’s the overall verdict?

I like to think (rightly or wrongly) that after many years of dabbling in web-design and spending a lot of time reading web-design magazines or blogs I know a little about SEO. All About iWeb site could do better, I am the first to admit it, but I am on the first page of Google for many of the keywords I have chosen and my site stats seem to be increasing every week so I must be doing something right.

When I built this site I spent a lot of time reviewing keywords typing them into search engines to see what came up and I think I did quite well. This tool takes the hassle out of all that. What this little application will give you is a fresh perspective on keywords for your site without you having to spend ages in front of Google, Bing or Yahoo. Who knows, it may even give you some keywords that even your competitors hadn’t thought of yet.

If I am honest there is not much wrong with SEKeyword but I think it could be a little easier to use. iWeb users use iWeb because it creates beautiful sites quickly and easily. The addition to a pop-up window the first time you start SEKeyword asking you for the URL for your site would be a nice addition, rather than having to faff around to find the add a URL button. And once you add a URL why can’t it go off and search for the keywords automatically rather than having to press a few buttons?

These are all minor gripes and they shouldn’t put you off downloading another great tool for helping you with your iWeb site’s SEO.

  1. I use this free program from Rage, in addition, I bought the bundle of web optimizing software and all these applications work great with iWeb. Web Crusher is a great,

  2. There’s actually a video made for using these two programs together. When I tried it out, I didn’t find out to be difficult at all, but the video certainly helped me when I wanted to export it to the rank checker.
