What’s happening with All About iWeb

Many of you have noticed that posts have been somewhat thin on the ground at All About iWeb and have contacted me to find out why. Well, let me start by offering an apology but I have been busy with a little project that may interest you all.

Open safari (or firefox or other browser) and point it at themesforiweb.com. That’s what I (and my brother) have been, and indeed still are busy doing.

I know there are iWeb themes available to buy on the internet but (and this is just my opinion) they look rubbish and are overpriced. What my brother and I plan to do with themes for iweb is offer you fantastic looking modern themes that look great and don’t cost very much.

On top of that we are open to suggestions. If you think there is a real need for an iWeb theme that hasn’t be built yet or you have had an idea that you think the rest of the iWeb world show get to see, then drop us a line; we’ll build the theme for you free of charge.

I hope you like the idea and will bear with me at All About iWeb whilst we get the themes finished and uploaded. I will keep publishing posts here when I can.

Thanks for your continued support.

  1. (my website is DOWN) so you can’t look at it until I solve quite a few iweb problems. Tim, the iweb theme that i would most desire you to come up with is one for artists and photographers. I think quite a few of us would want this. It should be a simple theme, mostly white or black. The emphasis should be on our logo or artist name and on the artwork itself. I would love it if I could purchase a ready-made theme with a built in art gallery. One of those with a thumbnail gallery and a large version that will change as you mouse over it. Here is an example, if you are interested (http://www.mnaples.com/information/sml_works.htm) and http://www.carolmarine.com/stilllife_gallery.html) are you challenged?

  2. This could not come at a better time for me. I have looked at every (I think) template site and have come away with zip. I am working to build a website for my yoga studio. No templates I have seen work for our vision. I can’t wait to see what you have!

  3. Since Apple is still very much in the educational field, I think a trendy educational site would be much in order. I am quite disappointed with iWeb’s current designs.

On another note, I am glad to see you are doing this. I can’t believe I am saying this, but Apple would be smart to take a page out of Microsoft’s book and offer templates online.

  4. Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with, I agree there isn’t much out there. I am looking for a professional business services site, that looks hip and cool and not to nerdy or cookie cutter, and please no globes…

  5. Hi i will buy the themes if they are afordable and useful, good job guys !

  6. I am behind your work one hundred percent. I hate the limitations we have on IWEB templates especially when it comes to clients work. IWEB has so much possibility yet so little in the line of good templates. Go crazy, your first customer is already ready with his creditcard

  7. Hi.
please could you do a post with teh html and css for a rollover nav bar with the ‘active’ command. We are redoing our website and are waiting on this to continue. I know im not the only one waiting.
    Thanks
and I love your work, Its been a tremendous help.

  8. I love your site and tutorials. Please…!!!! we need affordable and sophisticated designs. For now I’m doing the work myself with the help of Illustrator and of course iweb09. The following are some of them: (http://www.elvallelosprados.com) (http://www.pinpointidea.com) (http://www.temudamos.com) (http://www.effectivemarketingresultspr.com)

  9. Can’t wait until your site is up and running. I have been lazy trying to look for some templates but as you say they have all been rubbish.

I came across this site and have started to build my own with the help and advice you have given.

    Good Luck

  10. I second Janices request for an artist theme. I have put one together with the already available themes, but one designed just for artists would be so much better.

  11. I am new to your website. I look forward to seeing what you and your brother come up with as far as templates.
One enhancement I have suggested time and again to Apple, is the dire need of tables in iWeb.
If you came out with a template that incorporated a table, I would jump on it in a hot minute.

    Keep up the good work.

  12. Tim,
I have my newly designed iweb site up live now. I followed your suggestions about size, etc. I am still interested in your custom or available templates when you introduce them! Artists, illustrators, photographers-we could all use help.

  13. Tim, I told some of the folks who visit my blog that I used iweb to make my site AND then I told them that I got so much useful information from a fellow named Tim who writes “all about iweb” . I had some compliments from fellow illustrators who were interested in how I found out about iweb and so I directed them to you. expect a few more visitors. my blog is http://janiceskivington.blogspot.com

  14. Hi Tim. Great web site. I’m new to iWEB and MACs. I’ve been on a PC platform using Dreamweaver, Net Objects, etc. A friend asked me to manage his site, built in iWEB. So I’ve got a PowerBook G4 and the iWEB software. My friend sent me all the files, but for the life of me, I can’t seem to get started. I know the domain is supposed to be located in the library/application/support folder, but it’s not there… I found an iWEB file called Domain.sites2 — but iWEB can’t open it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
