As the new year kicks in, now’s a good time to review your EverWeb made website. If you’re using your site for business purposes you may want to do this periodically so that your design keeps up with current trends. For some websites keeping up with current trends is mission critical for their business. If you’re running a personal site, or one for a hobby or local club, it’s also worth reviewing your site from time to time. Here are some design trends for 2025 that may be of interest when you’re looking for inspiration when updating your current website design…
- Color Trends for 2025: Website designers are shifting towards soothing and nurturing color palettes and moving away from the saturated hues of previous years. The Pantone color of 2025 is Mocha Mousse, reflecting this trend. You can easily update your site’s color palette using the Firmat-> Default Styles… menu option.
- Bold Expressive Fonts: Typography is becoming more prominent in websites, with the use of bold, expressive typefaces that capture attention and establish a clear brand voice. Variable fonts offer flexible styling while improving load times, and serif fonts are making a digital comeback, adding warmth to headlines and calls to action. Checkout EverWeb’s Text Inspector for fonts and also the ‘Minimum Font Size’ setting so that you get scalable fonts to match the device your site’s displayed upon!
- Anti-Design and Embracing Imperfection: The anti-design trend challenges traditional design rules by embracing asymmetrical layouts, unbalanced structures, and overlapping elements. This approach adds a human touch, making websites feel more authentic and engaging. If you’re using a Centered Layout this will be super easy to do. If you’re using a Responsive Page Layout check out the Responsive Row widget’s overlap option, as well as the width settings for objects in the Metrics Inspector.
- Experimental Navigation: Innovative navigation styles, including unconventional menu placements and interactive elements, are enhancing user engagement and making websites more intuitive. Checkout EverWeb’s Navigation Menu widget, or add hyperlinks to shape objects and images on your page, or checkout EverWeb third party providers such as EverWeb Garden for navigation widgets to add a twist to your navigation!
- Big Blocks with Vivid Contrast: Bold, block-based layouts paired with vibrant color contrasts are gaining popularity. This design choice creates visual interest and guides users naturally through the content. Again it’s easy to work these design concepts in to your site using a combination of E#verWeb’s Colors button in the Toolbar, the Text Inspector and the Metrics Inspector.
- Brutalism: This design approach emphasizes raw, unpolished aesthetics, often featuring stark typography and minimalistic layouts. Brutalism aims to create a more authentic and straightforward user experience.
- Motion Design: Incorporating motion graphics and animations enhances user engagement by providing dynamic interactions and guiding users through the website’s content. Checkout EverWeb’s animation feature in the Shape Options tab but remember that animation should be used sparingly on your site4’s pages. Too much animation just puts off your visitors!
- Emphasis on Negative Space: Strategic use of negative space (or white space) improves readability and focuses attention on key elements, contributing to a clean and organized design.
- Gamified Design: Incorporating game-like elements into web design increases user engagement by making interactions more enjoyable and rewarding.
- Organic Shapes: The use of asymmetrical or irregular shapes introduces a natural and friendly feel to websites, moving away from the rigid, boxy layouts of the past.
- Smart Video: Thoughtfully integrated videos that are optimized for performance and relevance enhance storytelling and user engagement without compromising site speed. Check out EverWeb’s Video Fill option in the Shape Options tab or the video background option in the Browser Background section of the Page Settings tab for inspiration!
- Text-Only Hero Images: Some designs are opting for minimalist hero sections that rely solely on impactful typography to convey the message, creating a bold and straightforward introduction.
- Custom Illustrations: Unique, tailored illustrations are being used to convey brand identity and messages more effectively, adding a personal touch to web designs.
- Data Visualization: Presenting data through engaging visuals helps in effectively communicating complex information, making it more accessible and understandable to users. As the saying goes. a picture paints a thousand words. You may find that EverWeb’s free stock photo library has the right image for you that will save you all those words!
