NEW Border Options Debut with EverWeb 4.4 for macOS and Windows!

One of the great, but simple, new features of EverWeb 4.4 is Border Options! Simply, this new feature enables you to control the look of any of the corners of many of the object types on your website’s pages. Previously in EverWeb, you could only set the look of corners for the rectangle shape. Even then, you couldn’t control each corner individually, only for the shape as a whole. With the new E verWeb release, that all changes! Although this seems like a simple new feature, it certainly will change the look of your pages!

Where You Can Use Border Options
You can use Border Options generally for any object that can have a rectangular background applied to it. So, for example, TextBoxes and the Rectangle and Default shapes. You can also apply borders to images and to widgets that support background such as the Responsive Row, FlexBox and TextSection widgets. Checkout our post on the new Navigation Bar widget features as well, as you can apply corners to your Nav Bar’s background shapes as well!

Border Options: Border and Stroke Options Merge
If you’re a long time EverWeb user, you’ll probably know that before EverWeb 4.4 there was only one option when it came to defining the corners of your objects – the Rectangle shape which we discuss below. You also had Stroke Options available where you could choose either line or picture framing for the shape’s borders. These options were in the Stroke section of the Shape Options tab in the Inspector Window. In EverWeb 4.4 these features have been merged in to the new Border Options section.

You can apply Stroke options to draw your visitor’s attention to the object on the page. You can apply Stroke options to most rectangular objects. Simply select the object you want to apply the border to then click on the Stroke menu dropdown, which is None by default. You can choose either Line or Picture Frame.
If you use the Line option, you have three different line types to choose from:Line (Solid), Dashed Line or Dotted Line. Just click in the dropdown menu on the left hand side of the Stroke Options to select the line type you want. The default here is Line (Solid.) In the field to the right of the Line Type dropdown you can change the line color and the line thickness. All of your changes will be displayed immedialgtely in the Editor Window.

The second type of border that you can use is Picture Frame. Again this border type can be used on most rectangular objects in your page. After selecting the Stroke Type as Picture Frame, you will see the default frame underneath the dropdown menu on the left hand side. To select a different Picture Frame type, just click on the picture frame and choose the look that you want from the 20 that are available. Additionally, you can scale the frame using the slider on the right.

Applying Border Options
As you would expect, applying Border Options to a shape is easy to do. Just select the object you want to apply borders to, then go to the Shape Options tab and click on the checkbox to the right of the ‘Custom Border Radius’ text in the Border Options section. If this checkbox is not available, then you can’t apply borders to the selected shape. You might, however, still be able to apply Stoke Options to the shape if they’re available.

Once you have ticked the checkbox, you will see that all four borders are available for modification. Enter a value in the fields that you want to adjust the border for. When you enter a value, you will see the corresponding border change in the Editor Window.

Borders and The Round Rectangle Shape..,.
If you’re using the Round Rectangle shape in your pages you can add roundness to all of the corners of the object. Now that there are Border Options available, you might want to have control over each corner of the rectangle shapes instead. There are two options available: the first is to click on the shape then go to the Widget Settings in the Inspector Window. Here you can set a value to change the roundness of all of the rectangle’s corners. The second option is to change the shape from a Rounded Rectangle to either the Default or rectangle shape. To do this, just select the shape, then go to the Shape Options tab. In the Shape section, which is the very first section in the Shape Options
tab, change the ‘Rounded Rectangle’ in the dropdown menu to either ‘Default’ or ‘Rectangle’. After you have done this, you will see that the Border Options are now available to use.
